Madagascar at RWC
Madagascar finished at the top of their African qualifying group in 2012 (CAR Division 1B) by beating Namibia, the continent’s highest-ranked team after the Springboks, 57-54. In one of the most amazing games of Rugby played in 2012, a last-gasp extra-time victory sent the packed crowd of 40,000 at the Mahamasina Stadium into raptures.
Madagascar have yet to reach their first Rugby World Cup and were unable to make home advantage count when they hosted the Africa 1 qualifiers in July 2014. However, the game of Rugby is growing in Madagascar and there are now more than 25,000 registered players on the island.
