Centre Henderson is being taken out of the firing line against Portugal on Sunday after struggling with a dead leg

L'ETRAT, 6 September - Centre Andrew Henderson (SCO) will miss Scotland's opening IRB Rugby World Cup match against Portugal in Saint-Etienne on Sunday with a dead leg.

The 27-year-old sustained the injury, described as "nasty" by the team's medical staff, in the 27-3 defeat to South Africa at Murrayfield in August.

Head coach Frank Hadden (SCO) confirmed: "Andy is undergoing treatment from our medical team, but the injury will preclude him from selection for Sunday's game."

Henderson did some light running and passing drills with Scotland team masseur Dougie Mills when the squad trained at L'Etrat, their base camp, on Thursday afternoon.
