Pumas climb to highest world ranking
Up in the world: Ignacio Corleto and team-mates hit a world ranking high

PARIS, 10 September - Argentina's 17-12 victory over IRB Rugby World Cup hosts France has seen them leap to fourth in the latest IRB World Rankings - their highest position.

The Pumas' win sees them rise two places in the rankings released on Monday, overtaking France, who fall from third to fifth.

South Africa rise to third, while the only other movers are Ireland, who fall to sixth - one place ahead of England. New Zealand remain in first place ahead of Australia.

Wales gained points for their defeat of Canada - five places below them in the rankings - but remain in eighth ahead of Italy.

During the world cup, ranking points are worth double their normal value. Argentina moved from 81.05 last week to 84.82, while Wales went from 76.45 to 77.53. France's defeat sees them drop from 86.90 to 83.13, while Canada go from 70.06 to 68.97.
