With two years to go until Rugby World Cup 2011 kicks off in New Zealand, the official online store has been launched.
The store, which can be accessed through the www.rwcshop.com platform and via the RWC 2011 website is ready to supply fans around the world with an exclusive range of apparel and merchandise from the official Rugby World Cup collection, including the prestigious Webb Ellis Cup and Country collection ranges.
"Online merchandising is an essential part of the overall licensing programme for any major sports event. The online store was a hugely successful feature of Rugby World Cup 2007 in France, accessed by thousands of fans and the launch of the Rugby World Cup 2011 store is another significant milestone for the tournament," said Rugby World Cup Limited Chairman Bernard Lapasset.
"The RWC 2011 online store has some exciting new features and it is now even easier for Rugby fans from around the world to quickly find what they are looking for to support the tournament or their favourite team."
"Launching two years before the tournament kicks off means that fans will have the opportunity to purchase official 2011 specific tournament collections earlier than at any previous Rugby World Cup. This is an exciting development for Rugby World Cup 2011," added Lapasset.
Fans wishing to keep track of the latest developments at the store and new additions to the RWC collection, can also sign up to the official store newsletter at www.rwcshop.com.
Meanwhile, the first RWC 2011 superstore has opened in Auckland. The shop, which is located in the Viaduct Basin on the waterfront, will sell the complete range of official tournament merchandise including apparel.
