Lithuania defeated Netherlands 6-3 in Vilnius to extend their Rugby World Cup 2011 qualifying dream until at least next year.

All the points came in the first half, with Lithuania’s Gediminas Marcišauskas kicking two penalties before Netherlands’ Anton Werth replied with one of his own just before the break.

It follows Lithuania’s 19-3 victory away against Israel and sets up a tie against the winner of the FIRA-AER European Nations Cup Division 2A winner in 2010.

It also extends Lithuania’s unbeaten run to 16 matches, stretching back to 6 May 2006 when they lost lost 22-0 away against Slovenia,

Lithuania move up two places in the IRB World Rankings to 39th. Netherlands drop two to 37th.
