The Players' Committee of Rugby World Cup France 2023 will play a key role in mobilising the 660 athletes involved in the competition. It will focus especially on harnessing the off-pitch involvment of the players in support of the major social challenges championed by France 2023, in particular the protection of the environment and tackling discriminations.
The Player’s Committee, which will get together several times per year, aims to support different fields of actions:
- CLIMATE CHANGE AND SUSTAINABILITY
For a Rugby World Cup focused on sustainable development to respect and protect the environment by reducing its emissions and optimizing the use of resources.
- INCLUSION AND FIGHT AGAINST DISCRIMINATIONS
For a Rugby World Cup that stands in favor of gender equality and the fight against any form of discrimination, respectful of ethics and human rights.
- PATRONAGE OF FRENCH CLUBS
To assign, to each amateur French rugby club, a « godfather » (one of the Rugby World Cup France 2023’s participating player) in order to bring together the greater rugby community.
- TRIBUTE TO RUGBY PLAYERS’ MOTHERS
To implement actions celebrating the mothers who play a major role in professional rugby.
- CELEBRATE OUR HISTORY
To celebrate Rugby World Cup’s history and rugby’s 200th anniversary.
