PARIS, 21 October - Comments from England captain and prop Phil Vickery on Sunday.
Phil Vickery (ENG) - captain and prop
On how to continue the momentum for England rugby:
"I don't know if you are asking the right person. The important thing for me is that with the efforts of everyone in the England camp we put a lot of pride back in the England shirt and have given people hope that we can move forward. Hopefully we can move forward."
On whether Brian Ashton was instrumental in England's turnaround:
"Regardless of what any of you guys think this whole thing has been a team effort, we have all had influences. We have put our hands up and said we've made mistakes at certain times as players or coaches, that naturally happens all the time.
"Brian's influence on the side in my opinion has been huge. He has certainly made me very happy to want to go out and wear the England shirt."
On his sore neck:
"It's a bit sore mate, not too good. It seems to have settled down this morning. Obviously very disappointed yesterday, but had to go on with it."
On whether the loss discounts the entire England world cup campaign:
"It's disappointing, you get so far, to come as a group of players and to have got that far and got so close and not being able to pick up the trophy is a stab in the heart, it bloody hurts mate.
"You are not going to be remembered for being a world cup finalist. I wanted to be remembered as a double world cup winner. It doesn't count for nothing but it does hurt. I'm proud of the players, proud of everyone. The support has been phenomenal."
On his future career:
"I love what I do unfortunately. It's a privilege to be able to do what we do. For my whole career playing for England has meant everything to me, having the opportunity to wear your country's jersey is something which is an amazing feeling.
"Whether I'm good enough to be picked again we'll see.
"I've got to focus on getting myself right for Wasps, without the support of that club, what they've done for me (I couldn't be here).
"I will go see my little daughter, see if I can get a cuddle or a kiss because she won't talk to me on the phone. Look forward to putting on the Wasps jersey - what happens after that as Brian says, a decision will be made.
"We have to stop mocking ourselves and saying how crap everything is about England rugby. We are not that bad. Let's get behind it and drive and get ready for the next world cup."
