Miyako City

Miyako City is located on the easternmost part of the main island of Japan. Home to many scenic locations such as the Jodogahama beach and Mount Hayachine, which is known for being a treasure trove of alpine plants, Miyako is nestled against a beautiful natural backdrop of forests, rivers and seas. The city is also well known for its seafood, including salmon and pacific saury. Miyako City was recently in the news for having the first ferry port in Iwate Prefecture, connecting Iwate to Muroran City in Hokkaido.
