With Mt. Fuji as a backdrop, Fujiyoshida City is surrounded by the bounty of nature. Those climbing or visiting Mt. Fuji would pass through this city and the locals would often allow them to stay in their homes or provide them with other services, thus a strong practice of welcoming and providing warm hospitality was born in this city. Woven fabrics came to be a big industry for Fujiyoshida City in recent times and since then, this city has become the centre of politics, economy and culture for the area located on the northern foot of Mt.
