Nagoya City
Nagoya Castle prospered as the place of residence for the Owari-Tokugawa family. The Hommaru Palace, which was burned down once during the raid, has been restored and is open to the public. The Nagoya Festival takes place every year in the autumn time and one of the highlights of the festival is the procession of the ‘Three Great Heroes of Nagoya’ (Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Ieyasu). The local Nagoya dishes, famous for having rich, bold flavours, are also popular.
