Kumamoto City

Located on the northwest side of Kumamoto Prefecture, the rolling hills created by the outer ring of volcanoes can be found on the east of the city and low plains formed by the Shirakawa river delta, to the south of the city. The city is known as the “city of forests” and the city is being developed as one that coexists with nature. They are also known as the “city of water” as they have an abundance of groundwater and due to the Suizenji Ezu spring water groups.
