France have momentum, says Lauret

France flanker says there is a new confidence in the squad.

KUMAMOTO, 24 Sep – Wenceslas Lauret believes a nail-biting victory against Argentina has given France new-found confidence.

Camille Lopez’s late drop goal pipped the Pumas 23-21, and Lauret said: "The wheels are turning. The most important thing is that they turn at the right moment.

"That's happened at the World Cup - that's the most important thing. Now it's important we continue in this vein, that the path that brought us to this point continues as long as possible.

"It's not the end of the road, it's the beginning. Now we must go as far as possible."

France are three days into a 10-day break before their next match - against USA on Wednesday, 2 October - at Fukuoka Hakatanomori Stadium.

They then face Tonga in Kumamoto Stadium on Sunday, 6 October before ending the pool stage with a crucial game against England at the International Stadium Yokohama on 12 October that  could determine who finishes on top.

"We have 10 days to prepare for the match against the USA," Lauret said. "We have three games on the horizon, including the last big one against the English.

"We have two games against the USA and Tonga where we can continue tidying up our game and getting to the best possible level. Then we can take stock -  I hope it will be positive."
