Pedro Rubiolo (Argentina) appeared before an independent Disciplinary Committee on 22 July following a red card issued for an act of foul play during the match between Argentina and Uruguay on Saturday, 19 July.
The independent Disciplinary Committee was chaired by Jennifer Donovan (Ireland), joined by former international players Becky Essex (England) and Bogdan Zebega (Romania).
Having considered all available evidence, including match footage, match officials’ reports, and submissions from the player and their representative, the Committee concluded that, in the specific context and manner in which the red card was issued, the circumstances did not meet the threshold required for it to be upheld
Accordingly, the red card is overturned and the player is free to play.
