Referee announcements at #RWC2025 and England's milestone queen Jess Breach

Hollie Davidson to referee the final

World Rugby has announced that Scotland referee Hollie Davidson will take charge of this weekend's Rugby World Cup 2025 Final between Canada and England.

It will be Davidson’s second Women’s Rugby World Cup Final, having also called the shots in New Zealand’s victory over England in the title decider at Eden Park three years ago.

Australia’s Ella Goldsmith, meanwhile, will take charge of the Bronze Final between New Zealand and France earlier in the day.

Sophie Lloyd to bring the noise

We were lucky enough to have Anne-Marie open Rugby World Cup 2025, and we will have none other than Sophie Lloyd playing out the final!

The superstar has announced that she will be performing at Allianz Stadium ahead of this weekend's showpiece game in front of a sold-out Twickenham crowd.

"It is an incredible honour to bring the guitar to such an iconic event that celebrates women at the top of their game," she said.

Breach's tournament 'a dream come true'

Many player have had a memorable #RWC2025, but Jess Breach has to be up there with the player who has had the most to celebrate up to now.

The flying winger is joint second for the most tries at the tournament with six, and also received her 50th Test cap against Australia in Brighton and Hove earlier his month, as well as reaching the 50-try mark for her country against Samoa the week before.

"To have scored my 50th try and had my 50th cap in this tournament has been a dream come true," she said.

Breach isn't done yet, and says she and her team-mates are itching to get onto the Allianz Stadium turf this weekend.

"From day one for us it’s been about earning the right to reach the final, doing it for the girls and enjoying every moment along the way," she said. "It’s been an exciting journey to this point and we’re relishing the chance to run out on Saturday in front of a sell-out crowd."

Maggie Alphonsi’s RWC 2025 Guide to Twickenham

A packed Allianz Stadium for the final of Rugby World Cup 2025 is a dream Maggie Alphonsi cannot wait to realise. But just as much as the match itself, the RWC 2014 winner is looking forward to welcoming fans from all over the world to her city.

Alphonsi delivers an insider's guide to making the very most of time in Twickenham, Richmond and the rest of London - whether you are a first-time visitor, a returning fan or even a curious local.

"It’s a whole day out, you are not just going out for one event," she said. "People really bask in the rugby setting, the rugby vibe, the rugby event."

Burns rewarded for her Russian skills

Times have changed hugely for women's rugby, and not many are more acutely aware of it than former Red Rose Gill Burns, who describes what life was like when a fully amateur England outfit won Rugby World Cup 1994.

"I think the only thing I got at the end of the Russian game was I got a free shot of vodka from their coach because I'd done a very amateurish speech in Russian after the game," she says of that tournament's opening game.

"So having tried to speak Russian to say thank you and well played and all the polite things that you do at the end of the game, the Russian coach gave me a free shot of vodka. So I suppose that was payment in some sort!"

Burns sat down with World Rugby to discuss how much the women's game has grown, and how emotional she has been at each of England's games at this tournament. You can read the interview here.
