RWC 2025 Daily - Thursday, 25 September

Finals week is heating up, here is what you need to know as the countdown to the big day gathers pace

Canada chasing trophy & historic world No.1 accolade

Win on Saturday and Canada not only become Rugby World Cup champions for the first time in, they will also become their nation's first ever world No.1 ranked rugby team.

So far, only England - the current No.1s - and New Zealand have ever topped the standings.

Canada came mighty close to it all 11 years ago in Paris, and now, just a few hundred kilometres away, they will get a chance for sweet revenge.

What a celebration it will be if they manage it this time around.

'Do it for Grandad'

Family and friends have been sharing messages of support for the Red Roses, ahead of the biggest women's rugby match ever and be warned, you might need some tissues for this one:

Canada preparing to be 'pantomime villains'

Despite the unanimously friendly nature of RWC 2025, there is no doubt who the majority of the sell-out Allianz Stadium will be supporting on Saturday. And in an attempt to negate any advantage England might claim from this, the Canadians have been training in headphones blaring out fan noise.

Check out the full-story here on RugbyPass, as Canada head coach Kevin Rouet leaves no stone unturned.

The man in charge might need another trick up his sleeve to ensure his players do not panic when England winger Abby Dow gets the ball, given she did this the last time the two teams met at a RWC...

Fight for bronze heats up

It is not easy to pick yourself up after the the body blow of losing a RWC semi-final. But mid-way through Finals' week, both France and New Zealand appear to have found their mojo once more.

For France's Teani Feleu, it has been the stalwarts in the team who have picked the rest up as Les Bleues chase a sixth bronze in the past seven tournaments. Read all about it here

Meanwhile, for the Black Ferns there is a desperation to put on a full 80-minute performance for their fans in London and back home, as Alana Bremner explains

Here's what happened the last time the two teams went head-to-head:

Can't wait for more try-scoring action?

Finals week can feel like a long one, with plenty of talking but little action. So, if you are itching for more of what has made RWC 2025 such a standout, here are all 16 semi-final tries for you.

Enjoy:

Increasing girls' body confidence

A shocking 45 per cent of teenage girls drop out of sport due to low confidence and RWC 2025, in association with Dove, are doing something about it.

Perfect for a tournament that continues to thrive on strength, individuality, character and confidence.

Take a bow RWC 2025 volunteers

There would be nothing without them and those lucky enough to have a ticket for the Bronze Final and the big one on Saturday at Allianz Stadium will no doubt be grateful for everyone one of them.

So, here we are saying; thank you to every single volunteer who has lit up RWC 2025.
