Independent disciplinary process: Santiago Lopes (Portugal)

World Rugby can confirm that Portugal’s Santiago Lopes will have his case reviewed by an Independent Foul Play Review Committee (FPRC) having been issued with a red card for an act of foul play contrary to Law 9.13 (dangerous tackling) during the November international match between Portugal and Uruguay on Saturday, 8 November, 2025.

Portugal’s Santiago Lopes will have his case reviewed by an Independent Foul Play Review Committee (FPRC) having been issued with a red card (upgraded from yellow card on review) for an act of foul play contrary to Law 9.13 (dangerous tackling) during the November international match between Portugal and Uruguay on Saturday, 8 November, 2025.

In line with World Rugby’s expedited off-field sanction process, Lopes’ case will be considered by the on-duty Independent Foul Play Review Committee (FPRC) comprising Nigel Hampton KC (chair), John Langford and Leon Lloyd on Sunday, 9 November, 2025.
