An appeal by Spain U20 player Mateo Aragón against a sanction for discriminatory behaviour directed towards another player has been dismissed by an independent appeal committee.
Having considered all of the evidence and submissions before it, the appeal committee, chaired by Mike Hamlin (England) and comprising Rhian Williams (Wales) and former referee Valeriu Toma (Romania), determined that the player had failed to demonstrate that the decision of the independent disciplinary committee should be overturned or that the sanction imposed was manifestly excessive. Accordingly, the appeal committee upheld the seven-match suspension imposed by the disciplinary committee.
