OFFICIAL WORLD RUGBY MEDIA RELEASE

The following players have been cited or received Citing Commissioner Warnings after matches on 3 October.

Faifili Levave (Samoa) Citing

Faifili Levave (Samoa) has been cited by independent Citing Commissioner Yves Thieffine (France) for an alleged act of foul play contrary to Law 10.4(f) (playing an opponent without the ball) during the 15th minute of the Rugby World Cup 2015 Pool B match between Samoa and Japan at Stadium MK on Saturday, 3 October. 

The hearing will take place at 10:00 on Wednesday, 7 October at the offices of RWC 2015 official law firm Clifford Chance in London. The case will be heard by independent Judicial Officer Antony Davies (England).

Alesana Tuilagi (Samoa) Citing

Alesana Tuilagi (Samoa) has been cited by independent Citing Commissioner Yves Thieffine (France) for an alleged act of foul play contrary to Law 10.4(a) (striking with the knee) during the second minute of the Rugby World Cup 2015 Pool B match between Samoa and Japan at Stadium MK on Saturday, 3 October. 

Michael Hooper (Australia) Citing

Michael Hooper (Australia) has been cited by independent Citing Commissioner Steve Hinds (New Zealand) for an alleged act of foul play contrary to Law 10.4(h) (charging into a ruck or maul without use of the arms or grasping the player) during the 39th minute of the Rugby World Cup 2015 Pool A match between England and Australia at Twickenham on Saturday, 3 October.

The hearing will take place at 10:00 on Tuesday, 6 October at the offices of RWC 2015 official law firm Clifford Chance in London. The case will be heard by independent Judicial Officer Alan Hudson (Canada). 

Sam Burgess (England) Citing Commissioner Warning

Sam Burgess (England) has received a Citing Commissioner Warning from independent Citing Commissioner Steve Hinds (New Zealand) for a breach of Law 10.4(e) (dangerous high tackle) in the 71st minute of the Rugby World Cup 2015 Pool A match between England and Australia at Twickenham on Saturday, 3 October.

Under the Rugby World Cup 2015 disciplinary programme, a Citing Commissioner Warning equates to a yellow card for the purposes of sanction. A combination of three yellow cards or Citing Commissioner Warnings accumulated during the tournament will result in a hearing. Burgess is therefore free to play in England’s final Pool A match against Uruguay.

Ofisa Treviranus (Samoa) Citing Commissioner Warning

Ofisa Treviranus (Samoa) has received a Citing Commissioner Warning from independent Citing Commissioner Yves Thieffine (France) for striking an opponent in breach of Law 10.4(e) (dangerous high tackle) in the 57th minute of the Rugby World Cup 2015 Pool B match between Samoa and Japan at Stadium MK on Saturday, 3 October.

Under the Rugby World Cup 2015 disciplinary programme, a Citing Commissioner Warning equates to a yellow card in sanction. A combination of three yellow cards or Citing Commissioner Warnings accumulated during the tournament will result in a hearing. Treviranus is therefore free to play in Samoa’s final Pool B match against Scotland.
