Jones's record appearance to fuel Wales fire in crucial pool match

Captain will make record 130th appearance for his country in an unchanged Wales side to face Australia on Sunday.

TOKYO, 27 Sep - Wales have named an unchanged starting XV to face Australia in their second Pool D game of the Rugby World Cup 2019 in Tokyo on Sunday.

Captain Alun Wyn Jones, pictured, will make a record-breaking 130th appearance for his country as Wales face their stiffest challenge so far in the tournament.

In total, with nine additional British and Irish Lions test appearances, he moves to 139, which puts him joint fourth for tests overall alongside former Australia captain George Gregan.

Jones will feature in the same pack that recorded an opening bonus-point victory against Georgia on Monday.

Jake Ball will pack down alongside the skipper, with Jones, Ken Owens and Tomas Francis in the front-row.  Aaron Wainwright, Justin Tipuric and Josh Navidi form the back-row.

Gareth Davies and Dan Biggar continue their partnership at half-back, with Hadleigh Parkes and Jonathan Davies lining up together in the midfield. Josh Adams, George North and Liam Williams are named as the back three.

The one change in Wales’ match-day squad is on the bench, where Owen Watkin slips into the 23 jersey, providing backline cover alongside Tomos Williams and Rhys Patchell. Elliot Dee, Nicky Smith and Dillon Lewis are named as the front-row replacements, with Aaron Shingler and Ross Moriarty completing the line-up.
