The first of this weekend's four quarter-finals pitches Wales - who have reached this stage for a fourth successive tournament under Warren Gatland - against Argentina, who are back in the last eight after missing out in Japan four years ago.

Both full-backs, Liam Williams and Juan Cruz Mallia (above), have been key performers in their nations' progress through the pool stage, playing three games each and entering the knock-outs with remarkably similar statistics.

Firepower on the wing

Wings Louis Rees-Zammit and Mateo Carreras have also been in sparkling form, Rees-Zammit scoring five tries to date including a hat-trick in Wales' 43-19 win over Georgia, while Carreras grabbed a treble for the Pumas in their decisive 39-27 victory over Japan.

Tackle machines

Co-captain Jac Morgan has led from the front for Wales, starting their first three pool games - the second after stepping in at the 11th hour for injured team-mate Tommy Reffell - and scoring tries against Portugal and Australia.

Like Marcos Kremer for the Pumas, he has also been at the forefront of his team's defensive effort, with both players making 44 tackles apiece. Kremer is one of two Argentine players, along with fellow back-rower Juan Martin Gonzalez, who started all four of their pool matches.
