Wherever possible we ask that travelling fans use the most sustainable travel option available to them including public transport and active travel.

Getting to and from Salford Community Stadium

Top Tip

Manchester celebrates Pride weekend across the weekend of 23rd August. This offers a great opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere in Manchester by spending a night or two and staying across the Bank Holiday weekend. Fans should expect Manchester to be extra busy though and booking of accommodation and travel well in advance are highly recommended.

Fans planning to travel on intercity train services should book their travel in advance to ensure that they can book seats on their desired service and to secure advance tickets at the most affordable rate. Fans can take the Metrolink to Ladywell, Parkway and The Trafford Centre stations from where they can catch the dedicated match day shuttle services that run direct to Salford Community Stadium. See the Match day Shuttle section for further details.

Distance from Stadium: 0.4 miles (Approximately 8 minutesโ€™ walk)

Price: Single Journey - ยฃ2.00 for adults. Under 16s travel half price

Buses operating from this stop are wheelchair accessible.

๐Ÿšฒ By bicycle or ๐Ÿ›ด scooter

Cycle racks are available at Salford Community Stadium for those fans looking to arrive by bicycle. Make sure to arrive early though as bike racks can fill up fast on match days.

Lime e-scooters can be hired in Eccles, situated 2.4 miles from the stadium. Please remember to only ride one person per e-scooter and park them responsibly in locations that will not present a hazard for fellow fans.

Match day parking is available for fans at Salford Community Stadium on a pre-booked basis only. All parking is sold via the official Rugby World Cup 2025 parking website and must be purchased in advance.

Parking is available in the North and South car parks, both accessed via Liverpool Road/Salford Western Gateway. Both car parks are situated on the stadium footprint. In addition match day parking is available for fans at City Airport/Barton Aerodrome. Parking is offered as pre-book only via the official Rugby World Cup 2025 parking website and is offered on a park and walk basis with the walk to Salford Community Stadium taking approximately 15 minutes.

Drivers should make sure to closely follow directions shared in their booking confirmation and make sure to display their parking pass in their vehicle windscreen as instructed.

Accessible parking at the stadium for all fixtures is now sold out. Spectators requiring accessible parking should consult the Match Day Shuttle section above which will soon detail the fully accessible shuttle services, including Park and Ride options that will be available on match day. Please check back soon for updated information.

Resident parking schemes are in place in the area around the stadium. Vehicles parked in surrounding streets without the correct permits are liable to receive a fixed penalty notice.

Be Aware!

Fans should be aware that in addition to Pride weekend in Manchester there are other events taking place in the region across the weekend of 23rd August. As a result, you can expect roads in the surrounding area to be busier than usual. Those fans looking to drive to matches in Salford are urged to allow plenty of time for their journey and should consider whether their journey can be undertaken via another mode of transport to avoid the traffic.

๐Ÿš By Private Coach or Minibus

A limited amount of private coach and minibus parking is available at Salford Community Stadium.

Coach and minibus parking must be booked in advance. Parking can be pre-booked on the official Rugby World Cup 2025 parking website. Coach and minibus parking will not be available to book on the day so do make sure to book yours in advance.

There is no coach or minibus drop off / pick up area at the stadium.

Fans looking to travel to Salford Community Stadium by taxi or rideshare should instruct drivers to drop off/pick up in the South car park at the stadium. Fans should note that taxis/rideshare will be unable to access the pick up point for up to 30 minutes following the final whistle to allow pedestrians to safely leave the venue.

Geo-fencing is in place around Salford Community stadium on match days which limits the locations that rideshare apps can drop off and pick up passengers.

Travelling to Manchester

The easiest way to get to Manchester for fans from the UK is by rail, with two main stations connecting with many cities and towns throughout the country.

Manchester Piccadilly is the principal rail hub in Manchester and the main gateway to the city from across England, Wales and Scotland, with connections to over 90 Greater Manchester stations. Trains between Manchester Piccadilly and London have an average journey time of two hours and 15 minutes.

Manchester Victoria is the second biggest station in the city and offers services to northern cities including Bradford, Chester, Leeds, Liverpool, Newcastle, Rochdale, Southport and Wigan.

If you are travelling from Europe, Eurostar train services operate to/from London St Pancras Station, from where there are trains to Manchester with a change at London Euston.

Manchester Chorlton Street is the main coach station in Manchester and is serviced by a number of operators, including National Express and Eurolines. The station is a five-minute walk to Manchester Piccadilly station and offers services to most major UK cities, including London, Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle, Birmingham, Cardiff and Glasgow. In addition, coach services also operate from Manchester Shudehill Interchange, which is a five-minute walk from Manchester Victoria.

๐Ÿš— By car

Manchester is well situated adjacent to the UKโ€™s motorway network. From Birmingham, the journey typically takes about 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours via the M6 motorway, covering approximately 100 miles. This route offers a direct connection, though traffic can be heavy during peak times, so it's wise to check for updates before departure. From London, the drive to Manchester is about 200 miles and usually takes around 4 to 5 hours, depending on traffic, primarily via the M1 and M6 motorways. Travelling to Manchester from other locations is easy via major motorways such as the M62 from the west (Liverpool and Leeds), the M61 from the north (Bolton), and the A57 from the east (Sheffield).

โœˆ๏ธ From the airport

Manchester Airport is located to the south of Manchester and offers quick and easy travel links by train, tram and bus to the city centre.

To get to the train and tram station at Manchester Airport, you can take the Sky Link bridge from all terminals. From Terminal 1 it will take around five minutes to walk and ten minutes from Terminal 2 and 3. If you have a lot of luggage, you can also take the free shuttle bus. The train is the most convenient mode of transportation to get to the city centre.

Car hire is available at the airport for visitors looking to drive themselves. Several major rental companies operate here, and advance booking is recommended during peak travel times.

Getting around Manchester by train is convenient, primarily served by its key railway stations: Manchester Piccadilly, Victoria, and Oxford Road. These stations connect residents and visitors to various neighbourhoods and attractions within the city and the Greater Manchester area. Local train services operate frequently, allowing easy travel to areas such as Salford, Stockport, and Bolton.

Bus services run right across Greater Manchester as part of the Bee Network, and you can pay the driver when boarding by cash or card, or download the Bee Network app and purchase a ticket before you travel. Manchester City Centre is a relatively small centre, with most tourist sites within 30-minute walk.

Manchester is currently the location of one of a number of national electric scooter (e-scooter) trials in the UK , and Lime e-scooters are available to hire in the city via the Lime app. Please remember to only ride one person per e-scooter and park them responsibly in the correct locations.

Manchester has both traditional black cabs and private hire vehicles (PHVs). Black cabs can be hailed on the street or found at designated taxi ranks, while PHVs must be pre-booked. Rideshare apps like Uber also operate in the area.

๐Ÿš— By car

The city has a range of Park and Ride options, with bus, tram and train options, which can be found here. There are various other parking options, including on-street parking, public car parks, and private facilities and Manchester has several multi-storey car parks in key areas like the Arndale, Deansgate, and Piccadilly. The city centre can get congested during peak hours so it is recommended that a Park and Ride option is used if you are driving. There are EV charging points throughout Manchester, with real-time availability information available on apps like Zap-Map.

Enterprise Car Club and Co Wheels are the two car club operators in Manchester, providing a variety of vehicle options and easily accessible locations for members. This service offers an alternative to private car ownership, allowing members to rent vehicles on an hourly or daily basis.
