Wherever possible we ask that travelling fans use the most sustainable travel option available to them including public transport and active travel.

Getting to and from Twickenham Stadium

Top Tip

Twickenham Stadium benefits from a bustling onsite Fan Plaza that offers plenty of food and beverage options as well as activities for fans of all ages. Make sure to arrive early and why not revisit post-match to avoid the busiest times to travel directly before and after the match.

🚆 By Train

Top Tip

Fans planning to travel on intercity train services should book their travel in advance to ensure that they can book seats on their desired service and to secure advance tickets at the most affordable rate. Tickets can be purchased from 12 weeks prior to the date of travel. To book visit the national railway website.

Distance from Stadium: 0.6 miles (Approx 15 minutes’ walk) – Please note that post-match queues will mean that walking times will be far longer than this.

Destinations served: Destinations include London Waterloo, Windsor and Reading

Fans should expect long queues at Twickenham Station post-match. Please remain patient and follow the instructions offered by stewards. Fans should consider either the match day shuttle or 45 minute walk to Richmond Station as alternative options.

🚇 By Underground

Top Tip

Walking to Richmond station may be quicker than the shorter, more popular walk to Twickenham station due to post match queuing at Twickenham station. Alternatively there is a dedicated match day shuttle that runs from Twickenham Stadium to Richmond station.

Distance from Stadium: 2 miles (Approximately 45 minutes’ walk)

Lines: London Underground District Line and London Overground Mildmay Line

Destinations served: Upminster via central London (District), Stratford via Highbury and Islington via Highbury and Islington (Overground - Mildmay)

Frequency of service: Every 12 minutes

London Underground and Overground services from Richmond station are wheelchair accessible.

Be Aware!

Fans should be aware that there is no Piccadilly Line service running between King’s Cross St Pancras to Osterley and Uxbridge on 27th September. Therefore, there will be no services running from Underground stations in Hounslow. For more information please visit the TfL website.

Fans hoping to catch South Western Railway services to London Waterloo from Richmond should expect trains to be very busy having already passed through Twickenham.

🚌 By Bus

Bus stop(s): Twickenham Stadium (Stops C & N)

Routes: 110, 281, 481, 681

Destinations served: Isleworth, Hammersmith, Tolworth

Frequency: 10-15 minutes depending on route

Price: Single fare £1.75

Buses operating from these stops are wheelchair accessible.

Be Aware!

The bus stops closest to Twickenham Station listed here fall within the match day road closures that are put in place before and after the match. Fans should note that buses will go on diversion at these times and pass further away from the stadium.

🚶 On Foot

A walking route links Richmond station with Twickenham Stadium in around 45 minutes. This offers a good option to beat the queues at Twickenham Station post-match while also getting your steps in!

Follow the Rugby World Cup 2025 branded signage in both directions.

🚲 By bicycle

Cycle racks are available at Twickenham Stadium for those fans looking to arrive by bicycle. Make sure to arrive early though as bike racks can fill up fast on match days.

The Lime cycle hire scheme operates in the Twickenham area. Fans should make every effort to dock cycles in a safe location away from the stadium that does not cause an obstruction or hazard to other fans or match day operations.

🚗 By Car

Please note that limited official spectator parking is available at Twickenham Stadium on a pre-booked basis only. All parking is sold via the official Rugby World Cup 2025 parking website and must be purchased in advance.

Accessible parking is available at the nearby Tesco site (TW7 7JY). Accessible parking is available to purchase for accessible ticket holders via the official Rugby World Cup 2025 parking website. All accessible parking must be purchased in advance.

Drivers should make sure to closely follow directions shared in their booking confirmation and make sure to display their parking pass in their vehicle windscreen as instructed.

Be Aware!

Fans that are planning to drive to Twickenham should be aware that there will be local road closures in place on match day, including on Rugby Road, Whitton Road and parts of London Road. Congestion can be expected as a result and fans are urged to allow plenty of time for their journey and should consider whether their journey can be undertaken via another mode of transport to avoid the traffic.

Resident parking schemes are in place in the area around the stadium. Vehicles parked in surrounding streets without the correct permits are liable to receive a fixed penalty notice and may be towed.

Car parks may take time to clear post-match. Fans should be patient and follow the instructions of parking stewards and traffic marshals.

🚐 By Private Coach or Minibus

A small allocation of private coach and minibus parking are available at the stadium in Rosebine car park.

Coach and minibus parking must be booked in advance. Parking can be pre-booked on the official Rugby World Cup 2025 parking website. Coach and minibus parking will not be available to book on the day so do make sure to book yours in advance.

Drivers should make sure to closely follow directions shared in their booking confirmation and make sure to display their parking pass in their vehicle windscreen as instructed.

🚌 Match day Shuttle

Two match day shuttle services are in operation connecting Twickenham Stadium to Richmond station and Hounslow East station.

Richmond Station Shuttle

Route: Richmond Station to Twickenham Stadium

Pre-match pick up location: A316 Chertsey Road, Richmond (by the footbridge)

Pre-match drop off location: Mogden Lane roundabout

Post-match pick up location: Rugby Road outside Gate D

Journey time: Approximately 15 minutes depending on traffic

Frequency: Approximately every 10-20 minutes depending on traffic

Hours of operation: 4 hours prior to kick off until 3 hours after final whistle

Price: £5 to the stadium, free service post-match

Payment method: Contactless payment card or cash upon boarding service

All buses serving this route are wheelchair accessible

Hounslow East Shuttle

Route: Hounslow East Underground Station to Twickenham Stadium

Pre-match pick up location: Hounslow East Bus Station

Pre-match drop off location: Mogden Lane Roundabout

Post-match pick up location: Whitton Dene

Journey time: Approximately 15 minutes depending on traffic

Frequency: Approximately every 20 minutes depending on traffic

Hours of operation: 4 hours prior to kick off until 3 hours after final whistle

Be Aware!

🚕 By Taxi

Fans looking to travel to Twickenham Stadium by private hire or rideshare should instruct drivers to drop off/pick up at Twickenham Stoop (TW2 7SX).

The closest taxi rank to the stadium is located on London Road in Twickenham South of the A316.

Geo-fencing is in place around Twickenham Stadium on match days which limits the locations that rideshare apps can drop off and pick up passengers. The closest drop off/pick up point is Twickenham Stoop (TW2 7SX).

Travelling to London

🚆 By train

Rail services cover the entire country from London's mainline railway stations. With multiple hub stations to choose from, there are plenty of options to travel across the country.

These are the major train stations in London which connect the capital to other parts of the UK, including the other Rugby World Cup 2025 host cities:

  • London Waterloo Station: Links the capital with a number of major towns and cities across the south and south west, with a direct service to Twickenham, for the stadium, taking around 20 minutes.
  • London Paddington Station: Trains go direct to Bristol (for Ashton Gate Stadium) in just 1 hour and 30 minutes, with direct trains to Exeter (for Sandy Park) taking just over 2 hours.
  • London King's Cross: Trains to Sunderland (for the Stadium of Light) take around 3 hours and 45 minutes. You can also get to York (for York Community Stadium) in just over 2 hours.
  • London Euston: Trains go direct to Manchester (for Salford Community Stadium) and take just over 2 hours. The average journey time by train between London Euston and Northampton (for Franklin’s Gardens Stadium) is 1 hour and 16 minutes, with around 54 trains per day.
  • London Victoria: from London Victoria you can get to Brighton (for the Brighton and Hove Community Stadium) in just 55 minutes.

If you are travelling from Europe, Eurostar train services operate to / from London St Pancras Station.

🚐 By coach

London is accessible via direct coach from the majority of cities in the UK including Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Liverpool, Leeds, Cardiff, Newcastle and Oxford and can offer a convenient and cost-effective way to reach the city. The main coach station in London is Victoria Coach station and is served by National Express.

🚗 By car

✈️ From the airport

London is home to multiple airports – Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton and London City Airports, all of which are within an hour of central London.

Times and distances to central London:

  • London Heathrow Airport is just 17 miles from the centre of London and the quickest way to travel to central London from Heathrow is using the Heathrow Express. The Heathrow Express operates regularly from Terminals 2 and 3 and 5 and takes just 15 minutes to reach Paddington. A cheaper option is taking the London Underground Elizabeth or Piccadilly lines, which will take between 30 and 50 minutes to reach central London.
  • London Gatwick Airport is 28 miles from central London and the Gatwick Express non-stop train service to London Victoria offers a service every 15 minutes with a journey time of 30 minutes. There is a cheaper train service from the airport to London Victoria via Clapham Junction, which takes around 35 minutes and runs regularly. Services to London Bridge, London Blackfriars, Farringdon and St Pancras International also run four times an hour with a journey time of between 30 and 45 minutes.
  • London Stansted Airport is 39 miles from the city centre. Stansted Express trains to Liverpool Street station are the quickest and most direct way to travel between London Stansted Airport and the capital.
  • London Luton Airport is 34 miles from central London and offers a four minute transfer to nearby Luton Airport Parkway station via the Luton DART rail link. From Luton Airport Parkway, trains can get you into central London locations including St Pancras International in less than 30 minutes.
  • London City Airport is the closest airport at just under 9 miles from the centre of London. Docklands Light Railway trains take you to Bank underground station in central London in just over 20 minutes.

Getting around London

🚇 By tube

The London Underground often referred to as “The Tube” consists of 11 lines, serving 272 stations across Greater London which generally operate from early mornings to late at night, Monday to Sunday. Operating hours can be slightly reduced for services on Sundays. Night Tube trains run on some lines throughout the night on Fridays and Saturdays.

🚌 By bus

London's famous double-decker buses are a convenient and cheap way to travel around the city, with plenty of sightseeing opportunities along the way. London buses are card only, so you cannot buy a ticket with cash. Oyster cards or contactless payment cards are accepted.

A single London bus journey costs £1.75 no matter how far you go. You can even take multiple buses within one hour at no extra charge thanks to the Hopper fare. No matter how many buses or trams you take in a day, it will never cost you more than £5.25 in total – just make sure you use the same payment card for every journey.

🚲 By bike

London has various cycle hire schemes such as Lime and Santander, covering many popular areas of London, including the City, Westminster, Soho, Camden Town and more. Use TfL's website to find your nearest docking station.

🚶🏿‍♂️ By foot

The capital offers a wide variety of spectacular walks, from its bridges to many parks and beyond. The TfL website provides resources for walkers, including routes and accessibility information.

🛴 Electric Scooter Rental

London is currently the location of one of a number of national electric scooter (e-scooter) trials in the UK, and Voi and Lime e-scooters are available to hire in a variety of areas around the city, via the Voi and Lime apps. Please remember to only ride one person per e-scooter and park them responsibly in the correct locations.

🚕 By taxi and rideshare

From iconic London black cabs to local minicabs, taxi services in the capital are plentiful. London's official taxis, black cabs can be hailed in the street or at designated ranks situated in prominent places, including many mainline rail, Tube and bus stations. They can also be booked by telephone. To get a taxi, seek out black cabs with an illuminated yellow TAXI sign, at the front of the car, which highlights they are available to flag down.
